What We Can Do For You
Speech-language Screening
A Speech-language screening consists of approximately a 30-minute informal assessment of your child’s speech (how he/she pronounces sounds) and language (following directions, answering questions, processing information, naming vocabulary etc.), observing play and social interactions, as well as reading and writing abilities, if appropriate for your child’s age. Screenings are conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) or a licensed speech-language pathology assistant under the supervision of an SLP.
Speech-language Evaluation
A speech-language evaluation is a comprehensive measure of a person’s communication skills, including verbal and nonverbal abilities. An evaluation encompasses multiple aspects of communication skills.. It is done to gain better understanding of a person’s communication skills and needs. Evaluations are performed by a licensed speech-language pathologist.
Speech-language Therapy
Speech and language therapy, which is sometimes referred to as speech therapy and/or language therapy (depending upon therapy focus) is therapy that helps children and adults who struggle with communicating and speaking. Therapy addressing speech and language development is provided by a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) or a licensed speech-language pathology assistant under the supervision of an SLP.
P.L.A.Y. Group
P.L.A.Y. is a social-language skills groups are small groups that typically consist of two to eight kids led by an adult who facilitate the kids on how to interact appropriately with others their age. These groups foster kids’ speech, language, conversational, friendship, and problem-solving skills. They can also be useful in teaching kids to control their emotions and understand other people’s perspectives. Groups are facilitated by a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) or a licensed speech-language pathology assistant under the supervision of an SLP.
